I spent 5 days in Bangkok, Thailand, including a full day off work for Columbus Day.

My hotel, Centrepoint Wireless
The main street running underneath the skytrain
Malls are everywhere in this part of town. Gigantic, American-style malls complete with food courts and McDonalds.

Riding the river taxi up to some tourist sites

On the grounds of Wat Pho

The famous Reclining Buddha, 46 meters long, painted gold and with mother-of-pearl inlaid on his feet

Murals on the walls of the temple with the Reclining Buddha
An interesting practice of donation by dropping coins in each of the 50 or so jars

Wat Pho is known for its large collection of Buddha images
Children playing in the Chao Phraya River (yuck)

The central pyramid at Arun Wat (Temple of the Dawn) is 85 meters tall

An hindu shrine (uncommon)

Traffic was bad but not as bad as I expected. Colorful taxis, motorcyle taxis, and tuk-tuk (three wheel taxis) abound.
A large buddhist shrine, brining good luck to visitors. At the far end are performers who can be commissioned by visitors.

The Suan Lum night bazaar, a gigantic nighttime only flea market
Thai-style fish, it was OK but I wouldnt seek it out

Some spirits on the rooftops

Bangkok really is a pretty cool place for shopping. This is Mah Boon Krong (MBK), a 5 level building probably 300 meters long filled with stuff. Some funny signs too.
Add on another strange dining experience at the Bar-B-Q Plaza.
On the final night, some friends and I took a dinner cruise on the river. The first photo is our boat. You'll recognize some of the same sights we saw the first day.

The cable-stayed suspension Rama VIII bridge, with a 300 meter main span and 2.45 km total length.
The Royal Palace
A church!
Playing with Photoshop to make a bad photo semi-artistic
The cruise included a karaoke-style band and for a grand finale the Thai waiters line-danced to I Like It I Love It, Achy Break Heart, and Boot Scootin Boogie.
The Millineum Hilton
The last night in Bangkok a big storm blew through with so much lightning I decided to set up my camera to try to capture a strike. I got lucky! Took about 30 minutes of trying though.
