We remembered the Rose River loop being a nice medium-length hike with lots of water. Look back a few years and you'll see another set of Rose River pictures. Maggie's got a leg that is not 100%, I think from our last hike, so we didn't want to stress her too much. She did just fine, I think probably the exercise was good for her.

This loop is very near the Big Meadows campground, making it an ideal destination if you're staying there.

We actually got to see our first bear in the park! We were alerted by some girls up ahead of us. He/she was just totally ignoring all the people, about 25 yards off the trail, with his snout in the ground. He looked kind of shaggy and pretty small actually. My first thought was it was a cub, and where was the mother, but I don't really think so now. We didn't spend too long, didn't want to disturb him.
Just a big rock, not sure why I decided to take a picture or include it here, ha.

A neat cascade into one of the many pools
The deepest pool on the hike is reached fairly early in the hike if you do the fire road last. This one is about 5 feet deep or so, with a perfect walk in area. Very nice for swimming and not too cold to stay for a bit.
So we stayed for about 30 minutes here. Elias enjoyed his time out of the backpack.
Elias really enjoyed the sticks and stuff.
And he eventually needed a diaper change.
Backcountry bridge
This waterfall is reached at the end of the fire road (or the beginning if you travel in our direction). It is maybe 20 feet high, but hard to tell with the wide angle here.
