Skyland

We stayed for the weekend at Skyland Resort in Shenandoah, our first time there. We enjoyed it, and Elias got to go on his first hike under his own power, to Miller's Head Lookout, which was very exciting. I think this little boy made it 1.5 out of the 2 miles all by himself!

Another group offered to take our picture, which of course you can't say no to and rarely turns out well in my experience.

The view from our room balcony

I didn't have the right equipment, but I couldn't go to bed that early and had to do something.

Luray Caverns

Just west of Shenandoah through Thornton Gap in the town of Luray

The underground lake, pretty spectacular in person

The stalactite organ, and one of the sounding stalactites. Supposedly the crystal structure of the formation creates the sound when struck. They have these scattered around this area of the cavern. Kind a strange thing, but interesting.

Coin donation pond.... looks like the end of Goonies.

After the cavern, Holly and Elias try out the Garden Maze - took them at least 45 minutes !
