New trees - mid March

The flowering dogwood cornus florida is Virginia's state tree, and they are VERY popular. Ours is a 'Cherokee Princess' variety. This is after planting but before mulching. Trees are HEAVY! It was all I could do to drag this one into its hole.
This is our flowering cherry, the 'Yoshino' variety Prunus x yedoensis, just planted before mulching.
This is cherry again, with it's blossoms. Not bad for the first year right after transplanting.

Old trees - late March

This is the felled giant tree stump we had out our back window. It was 4 feet diameter and 10 feet tall.

Azaleas, Hostas, and others

Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of the tulips or daffodils this year.

The azaleas took us by surprise. They are really stunning.
Our back neighbor has some too. Maybe I should just finish tearing down the fence and not rebuild the new one.
This is the pile of wood chips from the stump grinding.
The hostas, a lavender azalea? about to bloom, and some mystery plant that looks like a magnolia. The hostas grew from nothing to monsters in a span of about 3 weeks.
