After a long journey with some adventure, we arrived to a gorgeous rural valley. We were greeted right away by a traditional procession of cows down into the valley after summer, with the herders dressed in traditional costume. We had hoped to see this as it only happens once a year around this time.
These photos are taken from the iPad – we were not up to going into Zurich to find the Apple store.

We have initiated research into the Schwende District in the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden. We found the Church building on Wikipedia, but little info gleaned as yet. Curious about the gauge of the railroad and geology of the background mountain peaks.
